What are the levels of membership?

Junior Member – Designed for younger students who have not hit the levels required to be a pledge. This allows students to get in front of recruiters earlier on in the recruiting process and build relationships. You are able to use these hours accumulated to replace your semester as a pledge. Dues are $20 for the semester or $30 for the year.

Pledge – First step in becoming a recognized member. Must be in your first major class or have completed one to be considered a pledge. Upon meeting the hour requirements, you are moved to the candidate category after one semester. Dues are $75 for the semester or $90 for the year.

Candidate – After one semester as a pledge, you are a candidate and will have reduced hour requirements. Upon successful completion of this stage, you will be initiated at the end of the semester. Dues are $30 for the semester or $50 for the year. If you completed two semesters as a junior member, you will be a candidate in terms of hour requirements but will have to pay the pledge dues to account for international dues associated with being initiated.

Member – After initiation, you are an initiated member. Congratulations! Dues are $30 for the semester or $50 for the year.

When will I know if my application is accepted?

Applications are automatically accepted for joining as a pledge or junior member! They are based solely on the credentials listed, so as long as you have met the applicable GPA and/or credit requirements, you are accepted and welcome to start attending our events.

What are the hour requirements?

Junior Member – You must attend a total of four events. These events should consist of an event in each of the professional and service categories. In other words, you cannot attend all professional events or all service events.

Pledge – 8 professional hours and 8 service hours as well as 4 flex hours, which are hours that can be from either of those two categories.

Candidate – 6 professional hours and 6 service hours as well as 4 flex hours, which are hours that can be from either of those two categories.

Member – 6 professional hours and 6 service hours as well as 4 flex hours, which are hours that can be from either of those two categories.

What are flex hours?

Flex hours are additional hours that can be from either category. For example, pledge hours are 8 professional and 8 services. With the additional flex hours, your total must add up to 20 hours. For candidates and members, the total hours should add up to 16 hours total.

What are non-BAP hours?

Non-BAP hours can go towards your hour requirements. You can have up to four hours each semester in non-BAP hours. Due to Beta Alpha Psi rules, you cannot exceed two hours in each category. This means you cannot have 4 hours in the professional category or 4 in the service category.

I did not meet my requirements. Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds on dues if you do not meet the hour requirements.

Will you tell me if I am close to not meeting my hour requirements?

No. We expect participants to check the attendance spreadsheet on a regular basis. It is your responsibility to meet your hour requirements. Our VP of Reporting updates the spreadsheet on a regular basis and you can check to see how you are doing.
